Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word are used to draft and display longer form documents. SMS is highly popular for very short-form (under 160 characters) messages. Messaging apps and e-mail are ubiquitous and more visual than SMS, but often they are not viewed because they are lost in advertising spam.
Qiew is a specialized kind of web page for smartphones that is purpose-designed for distributing more information than SMS in much smaller files than Acrobat or Word.
Qiew is faster to create, easier to personalize, can elicit valuable responses, and is delivered inexpensively over the Internet.
Components
QiewMaker
A Qiew designer uses QiewMaker to develop a Qiew document template, similar to Word templates for various purposes. A Qiew template can be re-used to send information to any number of recipients. It can also be modified and saved for other purposes.
Most importantly, a Qiew template can retrieve data from databases to automate the personalization of the content distributed.
QiewViewer
The recipient of a Qiew receives an SMS message with a link. When pressed the QiewViewer software is automatically downloaded to their smartphone, like javascript is downloaded when a web browser requests a web page.
Assembly
The QiewViewer software assembles the document components — images, text and database responses — and constructs the document as intended by the Qiew designer, similar to a web browser.
Benefits
This architecture gives Qiew unique benefits not possible with conventional messaging platforms. Details are discussed in Benefits for Senders and in Benefits for Receivers. The special benefits in speed and security are in Speed Advantages and Security Advantages.
